Workshop 20.09.2026: Exhibiting with Confidence

You have been offered your first exhibition – exciting! But what happens next?

What should you clarify with the venue before saying yes? Who is responsible for transport, installation, promotion or insurance? What should be agreed in writing? And what can you do yourself to make sure your exhibition is professionally prepared – not just for the opening night, but from the first conversation through to taking the work down again?

In this practical two-hour workshop, visual artist Laila Seidel shares insights from many years of exhibiting internationally and working with galleries, museums and cultural institutions.

We will look at the exhibition process from application to deinstallation, including:

• preparing an exhibition application
• communicating professionally with galleries and venues
• clarifying responsibilities and expectations
• understanding what should be agreed in advance
• recognising common pitfalls
• planning the practical aspects of your exhibition

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion, including questions about your own exhibition plans.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is particularly suitable for emerging artists and hobby artists who are beginning to exhibit their work and would like to approach future opportunities with greater clarity and confidence.

No previous exhibition experience is required.
